Today on the farm, Yuta Iwasada pitched seven shutout innings of five-hit ball, doing his part in keeping the game close on the road against the little Carp. In the ninth inning, Fumiya Hojoh hit a one-out double, and Yutaro Itayama brought him home on a triple. He eventually found his way home on a sacrifice fly to give the team an insurance run. New import reliever Diego Moreno shut the door in the bottom of the frame to preserve the win.
Final Score: Hanshin 2, Hiroshima 0
WP: Kazuo Itoh (1-1); SV: Moreno (4)
Team Record: 12-13-2
This also came on the heels of a big 7-2 win on Saturday against those same Carp, in which Hiroto Saiki threw five shutout innings for the win. The farm boys have played 27 games, quite a few more than the top squad, but they also have 11 home runs (including 4 by a resurgent Taiga Egoshi). They also have… 48 stolen bases (including 11 by newcomer Takahiro Kumagai)! This is a stark contrast to another Tigers team I know, who have just one in their 19 games.
Here’s some highlights of the nigun guys…

See what you’ve reduced me to, “top squad” Tigers?
