Yesterday’s game saw our pitcher walking theirs, and ultimately giving up a home run in the same inning. We couldn’t possibly repeat the same mistake in the very next game. Could we? (Cue the cricket sound effect.) Oh, and that was just one morale killer that came after a defensive mistake. *SIGH*
Starting Pitchers: Atsushi Nohmi vs. Daichi Ohsera

Well this is a pleasant surprise. After literally dozens of harmless fly-outs to right this season, Ryutaro Umeno actually came around on a pitch, and got just enough of it to send it into the stands…

Nohmi was chugging along quite nicely until he loaded the bases on a couple of hits and a walk. With two outs, he watched a ground ball split the left side of the infield, and the lead was lost.

Fortunately, we got a season-first hit from Kai Ueda, who also picked up his first stolen base of the year and got third base to boot thanks to a bad throw from their catcher. Wilin Rosario kindly cashed him in on a sacrifice fly. Tie game!

Good Wilin gives, and bad Wilin takes away. Nohmi got Batista to hit a harmless enough foul fly to the right side of the infield… but Rosario dropped it. The rejuvenated giant smashed a ball into the left field stands as his way of thanking his countryman for the second chance.

And just to make sure no one forgot yesterday’s rally-starter, Tsuyoshi Ishizaki kindly walked Ohsera before serving up a tater to Kosuke Tanaka. Game. Set.
