The new draft picks got their new uniforms yesterday. Below is the list of new numbers given out, as well as the most recent and most famous players to have worn the number.
- Kosuke Baba, SP #18 — Kyuji Fujikawa (2016); Tadashi Wakabayashi (1936-49)
- Haruto Takahashi, SP #29 — Eric Campbell (2017); Kei Igawa (1998-2006)
- Takahiro Kumagai, IF #4 — Hiroki Uemoto (2016); Gene Bacque (1962-68)
- Kairi Shimada, OF #53 — Yoshinori Tateyama (2014); Norihiro Akahoshi (2001-09)
- Masaki Tanigawa, RP #34 — Kazuya Takamiya (2017); Koji Nakada (1988-95)
- Joichiro Maki, SP #66 — Kazuhito Futagami (2016); Yamato (2006-10)
Concerning the new guys, skipper Tomoaki Kanemoto said here, “The Tigers are known for having a very kind manager and coaches, but don’t let that soften you! Crack the whip on yourself!”
