You can never like the Hanshin Tigers’ odds against Yomiuri Giants ace Sugano. Until his last start, he had a 29 2/3 scoreless innings streak, and he’s looking every bit the Sawamura Award winner he was last season, and not at all like the guy who gave us our first win back on March 30. But then, you can’t predict baseball, can you?
Starting Pitchers: Yuta Iwasada (2-1, 1.93 ERA) vs. Tomoyuki Sugano (5-2, 2.18 ERA)

Yoshio Itoi picked up the first Tigers hit of the night, and the only one that mattered. Home run number 150 of his career.

They didn’t score any runs. Iwasada went 7 IP, 120 TP, 6 H, 1 BB, 8 K, 0 R. Kentaro Kuwahara and Rafael Dolis each pitched scoreless innings, too, though the latter faced runners on the corners and the always-deadly Kamei in a do-or-die situation. Struck. Him. Out.
Why the light blue uniforms?
Special series against the Giants – they tend to wear “throwback” unis during at least one or two of their home series against their biggest rivals.
