It has been a really busy last three months, and a long time since I have posted a book review of any sort! I have “been reading” a book by Yutaka Enatsu for ages… but it’s going to have to be put on hold even longer because this arrived in the mail yesterday:
Yes! Randy Messenger has put out a book!!! No, it is not (and likely will not be made) available in English. How’s that for motivation to learn Japanese? Anyways… I will try to do a more detailed book review than I usually do, once I finish this one. You might want to give me some time, though, as I am planning on taking the next 3+ weeks off from H-TEN. First vacation from the site in four years!
Anyhow, here’s to hoping that the next time I write here, there will be a full report on this book, whose table of contents sounds something like this:
- Prologue: The Joy of Becoming Japanese on My Beloved Team
- Chapter 1: The Big Differences Between Japanese and American Ball
- Chapter 2: My Great Friends on the Tigers
- Chapter 3: The Day a Shy Guy Became a Major Leaguer
- Chapter 4: Messe’s Way of Life
- Chapter 5: My Favorite Thing: The Depths of the World of Ramen
- Ex-Teammates on Messenger
- Epilogue: Lifetime Tiger
