It’s not like the Tigers did not get on base enough tonight. They just could not stay on the bases long enough to reach home, for the most part. Two runners got thrown out trying to advance a base too many, and two more got gunned down trying to steal second. The result is that only one of the team’s 12 hits brought a runner home: Teruaki Sato’s solo home run in the sixth. There is a trend developing here: no one is on base for his bombs anymore (none of his most recent six, and just one of his most recent 11), and Yusuke Ohyama is hitless in 15 at-bats now. Also unfortunate: shaky Shintaro Fujinami came to town. He walked more guys (3) than he got out (2) in a fatal meltdown in the 7th. *SIGH* Nagoya Dome needs to be melted down to liquid metal and turned into a satellite or something.
