Despite the Tigers being 1.5 games ahead of the Giants all weekend, any combination of a Tigers loss and Giants win would have put the orangemen in a rare situation: 0.5 games behind the Tigers but in first place. That’s right. All those ties mean their winning percentage would have been higher than ours. Fortunately, the Baystars pulled us a solid, winning twice and tying today, while our team floundered in Games 91 and 92. Finally, our pitching was solid from start (Takumi Akiyama) to finish (Suguru Iwazaki + Robert Suarez) on this day. Our bats remained about as cold as they were all series long, but fortunately, a Mel Rojas Jr home run early in the game was enough to prevent a series sweep against the lowly Dragons.
