Game 104 vs. Giants: Monumental Comeback Falls Just Short

Game 104 vs. Giants: Monumental Comeback Falls Just Short
September 5, 2021

Honestly, after five innings, this one looked over. Just like the other games in this series. But the Tigers bats once again woke up late and put a scare into the Giants’ bullpen and bench. Takumi Akiyama only lasted two innings after surrendering yet another first-inning home run, and Shintaro Fujinami served one up to Okamoto, which sent this writer to his room sulking. But then, the comeback began. Slowly but surely. Enemy errors cost them a few runs, our pinch hitters (Fumihito Haraguchi / Mel Rojas Jr / Yoshio Itoi) hit clutch RBIs, and despite a huge chance to walk the game off, it just was not meant to be. Still, the battle back and the tie are more than enough to get me through Monday.
