One red-hot #3 hitter and his bat were enough for the win again. Jefry Marte hit a home run for the third straight game, and that was the only run scored in this one, despite chances from both teams. Joe Gunkel pitched outstanding, allowing only two runners into scoring position in 6+ innings of work, and Robert Suarez continued his dominance of CL hitters, shutting the door on the Dragons’ inept offense by striking out Viciedo and Fukudome. The three-game sweep at the hands of the Carp is a little more forgivable, though it would have helped if the Carp had taken at least one from the Swallows on the weekend! Off we go on a 9-game road trip to the Kanto area. These games could decide the pennant! Go get ’em, Tigers!
