The Yomiuri Giants are in a bit of a slump. That’s putting it nicely, as they have now fallen to .500 on the year, and while it is still mathematically unlikely, they could miss the playoffs still. Their losing streak is 8 (with two ties thrown in the middle) and their star leadoff guy saw his 27-game hitting streak come to an end tonight. Oh, shall we talk Tigers, too? Haruto Takahashi continued his total dominance of the orangemen, throwing seven strong innings with 11 strikeouts and allowing just a single to their bully rehab project, Sho Nakata. Our guys did not get many chances, but in the ninth inning with two outs, the unlikeliest of heroes stepped up. Seldom-used Yutaro Itayama and mostly-forgotten Seiya Kinami hit back-to-back doubles to plate three runs. Tigers win. The season series ends 13-9-3 for our men. Wow. Outstanding play against the Giants this year!
