No matter that the Tigers defeated Giants’ ace Tommy Smugano last time around… he’s still not one to be taken lightly. When he helped us load the bases in the top of the second with no outs, I thought we could get him good again. But… we scored none. Our leadoff hitter in the third, Koyo Aoyagi, started us off with a single, and it looked good again. And boy, did Teruaki Sato ever make it good! Sugano finished the inning and then made his way to the locker room. Somehow, we held on despite them having a few golden chances. I guess you could say that our ace is better than theirs now, because Aoyagi got out of every jam except the one his fielders abandoned him on. That said, it’s great to be “just” 12 games below .500 and on a four-game win streak. Let’s take it to them all weekend, guys!
