The first half of the week featured one of the most memorable performances of the season, on any team. Junya Nishi did not throw a perfect game like Roki Sasaki did last month, and he did not hit multiple home runs, but he did pitch his first-ever complete game and also went yard as the #8 hitter. He is the first player in 38 years to record those two firsts in the same game. We can forget the games before and after that, as they showcased all that is wrong with this year’s team (the bats). The home half of the week ended very well after a heartbreaking, ulcer-inducing, marathon of a game on Friday night. Beating the Giants two of three, taking the season series to 7-5 (for us!) is a great way to head into interleague. We’ll take this season-best .370 winning percentage and hope that once the 18-game schedule against the Pacific is said and done, we will be over .400 and out of last place! Go TIGERS!
