Oh, the ways we choose to lose. On Sunday, it was disappointing to not sweep the Baystars, but the team was just getting started with letdowns. Tuesday saw them create a huge chance (down two in the ninth, runners on first and second with no outs) but not make it. Wednesday saw them fight back three times, get their first lead in the top of the 10th, only to lose it on home runs in two straight innings. Thursday, they finally (kind of) showed some grit. After blowing a 2-0 lead (and also failing to build on it in the first place), they found themselves down to their last out of the game. Koji Chikamoto kept his flaming stick red-hot, pushing the tying run across home and advancing into scoring position. However, that was as close as we got to a win against the Carp. Fortunately, the bullpen held strong from the 8th onwards, despite a few tight spots. Anyhow, tonight’s game went nearly 5 hours. The team has to travel tomorrow morning on short sleep and play in the evening against the guy who nearly perfecto’ed them earlier this season…
