This was to be my last game at a ballpark this season, and I knew it.
The Tigers were riding a 4-game losing streak, and I knew it.
Hiroshima is a hard ballpark for our team to steal wins out of, and I knew it.
Nevertheless, there was a certain anticipation within me as I walked from Hiroshima Station along Carp Road surrounded by thousands of red-uniformed fans, billboards of Carp legends, shops selling food and merchandise (obviously, all for the fishy home team). I looked up at our starting lineup upon arrival, and saw that it was vastly unchanged from the one that I dislike so much, for some reason.
But the thing about baseball is, you just don’t know what’s going to happen in any given game because a few millimeters in one direction or another, a few more ticks on the radar gun, a funky bounce on a routine grounder, can factor into the outcome. In this case, I am not sure why this game ended up as it did. I just know I loved it.
Here’s a little video recap of the action and the stadium as well for you. Enjoy! And remember, there are still 3 games left in the season, and the playoffs are still a possibility! Let’s do this, TIGERS!
