On December 13, the Hanshin Tigers announced the signing of 27-year-old right-handed pitcher Jeremy Beasley to a one-year contract for 2023, estimated to be worth ¥110 million ($800,000). He had this to say: “I’m very thankful for this chance to play in Japan and honored to be a member of the Hanshin Tigers. I’m really excited and can’t wait to stand on that mound at Koshien Stadium. I’ll do my best to contribute to the Tigers winning the pennant next year. Go Tigers!” Beasley will wear #99 and likely be a bullpen arm.

The next day (December 14), they announced the addition of 28-year-old right-handed pitcher Brian Keller. His deal is reportedly worth ¥84 million ($600,000). This is what he commented: “I’m extremely excited to have been given this chance to play for the Tigers. I’m really looking forward to meeting my teammates, the manager, the coaches, the staff, and of course, the passionate Tigers fans. I’ll do my best to help the team win games and hopefully a pennant, too.” Keller has been given #24 and is being looked at to join the starting rotation.

On December 15, the Tigers welcomed 27-year-old outfielder Johan Mieses to the team. Mieses represented the Dominican Republic at the 2020 (2021) Olympics in Tokyo and hit a home run off former Hanshin Tigers reliever Seung-hwan Oh. He had this to say upon signing his deal, said to be worth ¥67.5 million ($500,000): “First of all, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Hanshin Tigers for giving me this chance to come back to Japan. I will continue to be thankful for the good health I have been given to keep playing baseball, the game I love, and I will play my hardest for my new team in Japan. I’m looking forward to seeing you all in Japan!” Mieses will wear #55 next year.

On December 16, the Tigers made it official that former Oakland A’s infielder, 28-year-old Sheldon Neuse, reached a deal with the team for 2023. It is reported to be worth ¥180 million ($1.3 million). He will wear #7 next year and left this comment: “It’s nothing short of an honor to have been given this offer to play for the Hanshin Tigers. I’m really excited to become a member of this team that has such a rich history and tradition. I’ll do my best to help lead the team to victory. I’m so thankful to the Tigers for giving me this opportunity, and I fully intend to fulfill the role that they have given me. I can’t wait to meet my teammates and all the Tigers fans in Japan!”
