This weekend was a rematch between the last two teams standing in the Central League last season. The Tigers got swept by the Swallows at Jingu to end manager Akihiro Yano‘s tenure with the team. In came new manager Akinobu Okada, who has a great head for the game and is said to be a master at manufacturing runs. That is what our team did this weekend. One run per game. No RBI hits. We led in all three games. One, we lost due to the long ball. One, we hung on tight for a shutout win. And today (Sunday), the teams participated in a marathon draw. It was literally longer than the average marathon. The Tigers put runners in scoring position in the 7th, 8th, and 9th, giving them great chances to take the lead back. Instead, they fell short. Fortunately, the relievers no-hit the Swallows for five innings, and the series ends 1-1-1. I’ll take it, but I definitely want to see the offense wake up on Tuesday and start producing like they did during Opening Weekend!
