If you’ve been a Tigers fan for some time now, you know that every loss against the Giants feels like a series sweep, and every win feels like a playoff victory. So imagine how the fans at Koshien felt on Wednesday when, before the end of the third inning, the team was down by 5 runs. Somehow, they clawed back and scored 4 (with the last of those coming on a double play, meaning there was a possibility of more than 4) in one inning, and had chances the rest of the way to send the crowd into a total frenzy. But alas, it was not meant to be. Then, imagine how the fans felt on Thursday when the tables got completely turned… the Tigers led by 6 after three innings. Instead of taking their collective foot off the gas, though, they just kept speeding around the bases until they completed their biggest shutout win in ages. Great season debut for Masashi Itoh and great feeling beating the Giants so badly!
