After two straight rainouts in Hiroshima, our boys came home to face the suddenly weak Yakult Swallows, whose pitchers got absolutely demolished over the weekend at the hands of the Baystars. They must have been saving all their best performances for Koshien, as our bats suddenly froze up and did not score in the first two games of the year. Rookie pitcher Shoki Murakami gave up his first run of the season (and two days later was named CL Pitcher of the Month) and got hung with the tough-luck loss on Tuesday. Fortunately, the boys salvaged the series with a win on Thursday despite a real struggle to bring men home. Now to face the first-place Baystars on the weekend! Now would be a good time to heat up, Hanshin!
