Despite the dramatic win in Game 4, the Tigers still needed to win this one in order to head back to Kyocera Dome with some momentum and the pressure squarely on the Buffaloes. Their two best pitchers await, so forcing them into two must-win games was the only option. In spite of this, the Tigers’ bats came out flat, unable to put together an attack or score any runs through seven. Their best chance came in the first, when they put their first two runners on base. It didn’t work out, obviously. In the second, they had a one-out, runner-on-second situation. That also did not work out. After that, very little went their way. Nevertheless, with the season on the line, and in their final inning at the plate at Koshien this year, they got it done, and then some, against some of the best relievers in the game. And now, they have a 3-2 lead in the series and need to win one of the final two games to win their first championship in 38 years. LET’S GO, TIGERS!!!
Whichever way this goes, thanks for another fantastic year of coverage!
